OFFICIAL MAP MAKING CONTEST
Remember to read the design guidelines if you haven't started working on your map for the official map contest already :)

WORLD IN CONFLICT: SOVIET ASSAULT NEWS
- Let’s start out with two different interviews with World in Conflict producer Petter Sydow:

Qj.net: "World in Conflict: Soviet Assault - at least for the Xbox 360 - will sport voice command support for ordering squads around. But unlike most mishaps with voice command features, Soviet Assault won't be as discriminating against accents."
Eurogamer: "For a strategy game, we go very far. We have a first-person shooter level of immersion, of story progression, of character progression, and we really think that is something the audience will like."

- If you haven’t seen it already, here is the latest CGI trailer for WiC:Soviet Assault. Don’t miss it, it looks absolutely awesome! The song used is Polyushko Pole, performed here by Leningrad Cowboys and the Red Army Choir ;)

- The trailer Yulja has now been released with English subtitles. Watch it on wicbase!

- Kotaku shares impressions from console versions of WiC.

- Gamespot wonders how well a PC strategy game ports to consoles, and comes to the conclusion that it works out fine :)

- GamingTrend has some new screenshots up:

- CVG reports from a PC Zone interview with lead designer Magnus Jansén: "We're aiming to keep the same explosive strategic gameplay and storytelling, but the new Soviet plotline will give players a fresh perspective on the established story."

NEW WICBASE FEATURES
Wicbase.com has been redesigned and new functions have also been added:

The Movie section now supports Gametrailers & VEOH, but the most important new function is the exclusive Massgate imagethumb since WiCPiX 1.06! You can use a 600x400 (max scale) imagethumb on massgate.net to show more than just a small thumb for your screens! You can now also upload a zip-archive, and it will auto-extract your images.

Also don’t miss the latest Map Impression movie by Kithaitaa, this time about EvilViking’s latest creation Paradise.

VIRGINIA MAP TRAILER
EvilViking has made a trailer for his map Virginia, which was officially released last week!

Virginia is the first Massive-approved user-made map for World in Conflict. Set in the beautiful mountains and valleys of southwest Virginia, the quiet and picturesque town of Jeffersonville and the surrounding farming communities provide the backdrop for a vicious struggle between Soviet fast-strike forces and Virginia National Guard.

AVAILABLE NOW – NEW MAP
The whole World in Conflict Team is very proud to announce the official release of the fan-made map Virginia, by EvilViking!

With stunning visual detail, Virginia is the first fan-made map to make it to an official release. This new Domination map can be downloaded by logging in to Massgate.

It is also available as a free download in the Download section. Place it in your My Documents\World in Conflict\Downloaded\maps folder. Please note that if you have played the beta version of Virginia, you need to delete it from your maps folder before downloading this latest version.

CLANFEST – SPRING OFFENSIVE
The sixth Clanfest event hosted by [TAW]Buddha takes place on May 4th at 18:00 GMT! The maps used this time are Countryside, Ruins and Island. Read more here.

MULTIPLAY 1V1 TOURNAMENT
Multiplay UK is hosting a 1v1 WiC tournament, check the player line-up here. Results from the first round should be published on the WiC Multiplay forums.

NEW FAN SITE: WICIMAGES
A new WiC fan site, WiCImages, has come into existence, dedicated to all the WiC map makers out there! Here you can find a review system for player made maps, download textures to use when making a map, a forum where you can ask other map makers for help – all put together by thenashone! It’s still in the works, but is already looking very good :)
